Everyone around me is graduating, be it high school, college or grad school. This year I know more people graduating then ever. I was suppose to graduate but I’m stuck taking one extra semester :(
I remember at the beginning of this year I was overwhelmed thinking about graduating college, it being right around the corner, then I realized I didn’t have the money to load on the classes like I would need so I was going to have to do one more semester, I was relieved.
Recently though as scary as graduating college is I’m ready for it, I’m ready to be done. I remember there’s a lot of freedom that comes after graduating. As you get older, school just becomes one less thing you have to do and a beautiful thing to say goodbye to.
Graduating means a chance to just live life, sure there will be new responsibilities, but you get to pick those responsibilities. You get to make the choices and decisions from here on out.
Just like you did when you graduated highschool. I had to decide to go back to college, I wasnt required, I volunteered. I don’t regret that decision for a second. I learned more in four years of college than I learned my whole life.
For many out there I know graduating can be overwhelming and make it hard to breathe, having to step out on your own, to make those decisions, those choices, to choose your own path. It’s scarry.
Highschool might be some of the best years some people have and yea there’s a whole lot of freedom in high school. Growing up though, living for yourself, making your choices, choosing your destiny, living the life you were meant to. Sure that means big girl/boy pants and responsibilities, but it also means a whole new type of freedom.
A freedom better than having no responsibilities. It’s the freedom of living the life you choose. It’s learning how to grow with relationships.
Sure highschool was alright, college was wayyy better….but life, living life, enjoying life, growing into an adult and living for the moment and for the life you choose, well that tops them all.
I wish I was graduating, so all I had to do was live the life I choose.
I guess I needed this extra little time to realize I couldn’t be happier and more ready to graduate.
To all you who graduated or are graduating! Basque in it, be proud of yourselves, and more than that be ready to expierence life in a whole other way, a way that puts you in the drivers seat from this day on.
Welcome to the first few days of YOUR life! :-) :-) :-)
